Getting Started
How do I schedule my first appointment?
Getting started is easy. You can request an appointment online or contact our office by phone or email, and our team will help you find a time that works for your schedule.
What can I expect during my first visit?
Your first appointment is all about getting to know you. We'll discuss your symptoms, medical and mental health history, current concerns, and treatment goals. Together, we'll create a personalized plan that may include medication, therapy recommendations, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches.
Do I need a referral?
No. Most patients can schedule an appointment without a referral. If your insurance requires one, we'll let you know before your visit.
What ages do you see?
We provide psychiatric medication management for children, adolescents, and adults ages 6 and older.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes! We offer secure telehealth appointments for patients located anywhere in Colorado. Telehealth provides the same quality care as an in-person visit while offering added convenience.
How soon can I get in?
We know that when you're ready to seek help, waiting can be difficult. We strive to offer appointments as quickly as possible, and many new patients can be seen within 2 weeks of initial contact. Contact our office or request an appointment online, and we'll help you find the earliest available opening.
Medication Management
What is medication management?
Medication management is an ongoing partnership between you and your provider. We'll evaluate whether medication may be helpful, monitor how you're responding, make adjustments as needed, and answer any questions along the way to help you feel your best.
Will I be prescribed medication at my first appointment?
Not necessarily. If medication is appropriate, it may be prescribed during your first visit. However, every treatment plan is individualized, and we'll discuss the options together before making any decisions.
How often will I need follow up appointments?
Follow-up appointments depend on your individual needs and how you're responding to treatment. Most patients are seen every one to three months once they're on a stable medication regimen.
Can you refill my medication?
Yes. Prescription refills are typically provided during scheduled follow-up appointments. If you need a refill before your next visit, contact our office with enough notice so we can review your request.
What should I do if I'm having side effects?
Please contact our office if you're experiencing side effects. Many side effects can be managed by adjusting your medication or dosage, and we're here to help you find the safest and most effective treatment.
Do you prescribe stimulants if appropriate?
Yes. If a stimulant medication is clinically appropriate based on a comprehensive evaluation, we may prescribe one as part of your treatment plan. We carefully follow evidence-based guidelines and monitor all controlled medications to ensure they are used safely and effectively.
Can I stop taking my medication if I'm feeling better?
We recommend talking with your provider before stopping any medication. Feeling better is often a sign that your treatment is working, and stopping medication abruptly can sometimes lead to withdrawal symptoms or a return of your symptoms.

Insurance & Payment
Do you accept my insurance?
We accept most major insurance plans. Because insurance networks can change, we encourage you to contact our office or verify your benefits with your insurance company before your appointment.
What if you don't accept my insurance?
If we're not in-network with your insurance, you can still receive care as a self-pay patient. Our team is happy to discuss your options and answer any questions about fees.
How much does an appointment cost?
Appointment costs vary depending on the type of visit and your insurance coverage. You can find private pay and insurance information under our investment page.
Do you offer payment plans?
If you're concerned about the cost of care, please reach out to our office. We'll review available payment options and discuss whether a payment arrangement is appropriate.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.
Policies
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you provide at least 24 business hours' notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee as outlined in our office policies.
How do I request prescription refills?
The easiest way to request a refill is through the patient portal or by contacting our office. Please allow several business days for refill requests and remember that some medications require a follow-up appointment before they can be renewed.
How can I contact my provider between appointments?
You can send a secure message through the patient portal or contact our office during normal business hours. While we do our best to respond promptly, messages are not monitored 24/7.
What should I do if I'm having a mental health emergency?
If you're experiencing a mental health emergency or believe you may be at risk of harming yourself or someone else, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. You can also call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
General Questions
How is a psychiatric nurse practitioner different from a psychiatrist?
Psychiatric nurse practitioners and psychiatrists are both qualified to diagnose mental health conditions and prescribe medication. Psychiatric nurse practitioners bring advanced nursing training with a holistic, patient-centered approach while providing comprehensive psychiatric care.
Can I see you if I already have a therapist?
Absolutely. In fact, medication management and therapy often work very well together. We're happy to collaborate with your therapist—with your permission—to help ensure your care is coordinated.
Do you provide therapy or medication management?
Our primary focus is psychiatric evaluations and medication management. We also provide education, supportive counseling, and treatment recommendations, and we're happy to coordinate care with your therapist if you have one.
Is my information kept confidential?
Yes. Protecting your privacy is one of our highest priorities. Your health information is kept confidential in accordance with federal and state privacy laws, and we only share information with your permission or when required by law.
